    Lünen, North Rhine-Westphalia

The Lünen biomass power plant generates 150 million kilowatt hours of electricity each year, feeding the power into the national grid as provided for by the Renewable Energy Act (EEG). To do so, the plant uses 135,000 metric tons of scrap wood per annum. The biomass power plant is located in the immediate vicinity of the REMONDIS Lippewerk, the largest industrial recycling center in Europe. Following conditioning at that works, the scrap wood is supplied to the power plant.
