  • A strong presence in Germany

We have a solid installed base of power plants in Germany. Being the fifth largest generating company in Germany, STEAG operates power plants in the Rhine/Ruhr and Saarland regions.

Our electricity customers include both industry and public utility companies. Combined heat and power (CHP) – i.e., the simultaneous production (cogeneration) of electricity and usable thermal energy – is a supplementary service we offer wherever it makes economic sense. The thermal energy is marketed for heating purposes.

Besides our conventional large-scale generating facilities, we are continually adding plants that operate on renewable sources of energy. One hundred of our plants operate using biomass, biogas or mine gas and geothermal energy, and we have an additional 100 distributed energy supply facilities.
