Six apprentices in Saarland pass their examinations ahead of schedule with good to excellent grades

Völklingen. STEAG’s industrial and technical training in Saarland is concentrated at the Völklingen-Luisenthal site. There, STEAG’s technicians of tomorrow have been successfully trained for several years, in cooperation with the local STEAG business units, including the Fenne, Weiher and Bexbach power plants, and with TÜV Nord Bildung gGmbH. Six of the STEAG apprentices who started their training courses in 2019 have now made use of the opportunity provided in recognition of their good to excellent results to date to shorten their three and a half year courses by six months.

“At STEAG, we are once again proud this year of having excellent young people in our company,” says Dr. Andreas Reichel, Chairman of the STEAG Management Board and also Industrial Relations Director of the long-established Essen-based company. “I warmly congratulate all our new colleagues on successfully completing their training.”

The young employees in Saarland earning that praise are Alexander Wolsdorfer and Ugur Muhammed Yildiz, freshly qualified electronics technicians for industrial engineering, machining mechanic Janson Klees, mechatronics technicians Pietro D’Angelo and Le-Phu-An Huynh, and industrial mechanic Daniel Korcagin. They all passed their exams with good and excellent results – and that against the backdrop of an apprenticeship period that was overshadowed for long stretches by the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

    Talented young people in demand
With the qualifications they have acquired, the newly qualified trainees are in great demand. All of the six young employees have already taken up jobs in different areas of the STEAG Group on the Saar. “As the person responsible for training, I am also personally pleased that my protégés have achieved such good results and earned the opportunity to make a successful start to their careers,” says Jannik Dräger, who is responsible for industrial and technical training at STEAG in Saarland.

Indeed, good training at a prestigious energy company like STEAG provides the best conditions for a successful start to a career, especially in times of a steadily growing shortage of skilled workers, which is leaving its mark on more and more sectors of industry.

The positions for trainees and career entrants offered at STEAG can be easily found on the company’s website. “It is very easy and uncomplicated to apply online, especially for a traineeship,” says Jannik Dräger.

There will be several vacancies in technical and industrial training courses at STEAG in the coming year of 2023 training year – anyone interested can view them at jobs.steag.com from October onwards and apply online with just a few clicks.
