As one of Germany’s largest electricity producers, STEAG operates eleven power stations and more than two hundred distributed facilities to generate energy from renewable sources and supply power and heat on a contracting basis to industrial and other customers. Internationally, STEAG operates three power plants in Colombia, Turkey and the Philippines. The total installed capacity is around 9,400 megawatts (MW) worldwide, including around 7,700 MW in Germany. Based on many years of experience in the power, coal and CO2 sectors, STEAG offers a broad portfolio of products and services in energy trading. In the fuels sector, STEAG is one of the leading importers and marketers of hard coal and has its own shipping program.

We are experts in the modernization of existing plants and in customized energy supply solutions which go easy on the environment and at the same time are economical. As regards the reutilization of residual materials from hard coal power plants, STEAG is the European market leader. The company ranks among the German market leaders in the generation of electricity and heat from mine gas and biomass, and is one of the leading developers and operators of district heating systems using geothermal sources for power.  STEAG develops wind energy projects in Germany and other countries and pursues solar thermal projects in various countries. STEAG is a pioneer in efficient technologies for hard-coal-based power production and its technologies are distinguished by high degrees of efficiency and exemplary resource conservation.
