07/01/2011STEAG New Energies plans five wind turbines in Lorraine

Five wind turbines are to be constructed in Woelfling-lès-Sarreguemines, Lorraine. Michaël Weber, Mayor of Woelfling-lès-Sarreguemines and Conseiller Régional, and STEAG New Energies project manager Bernard A. Tonnelier presented the project to representatives of the press and the local community on 01 July 2011.

On 27 June 2011, STEAG subsidiary STEAG New Energies, based in Saarbrücken, acquired the project company PELCCE Energies S.à.r.l. The project company is planning to erect five wind turbines with a rated capacity of 2.05 MW each at the French village of Woelfling-lès-Sarreguemines, close to the border with the Saarland. The construction project is still subject to approval by the board of the parent company STEAG. The official approvals have already been obtained. The land required will be rented with long-term leases from the local authority and resident farmers. The wind turbines with a hub height of 78.50 m are to be supplied and installed by REpower SAS. They will be connected to the public grid by the French transmission system operator ERDF. The first work in preparation for construction is to commence on 04 July 2011.

Michaël Weber, Mayor of Woelfling-lès-Sarreguemines and Conseiller Régional, expressed his appreciation of the project in the following words: “We at Woelfling-lès-Sarreguemines are pleased to be able to establish modern power generation on the basis of renewable energy sources here together with STEAG New Energies.”

Bernard A.Tonnelier, STEAG New Energies project manager and director of PELCCE Energies S.à.r.l, said on the occasion of the official project presentation in Sarreguemines: “We as STEAG New Energies are looking forward to expanding our activities in the field of wind energy use with this project and thus also making a contribution to climate-friendly power generation in France.”
